CSR

Disha Foundation

Disha is a non-governmental organization which provides assistance to marginalized children, youth and women from the Manoharpukur slum area in Kolkata, in spheres of education, health and empowerment.

Disha began in a small way in June 1992 in the Manoharpukur basti, Ward 84 with 6 school going children and a group of dedicated teachers, with the main aim of preventing drop outs. Today they have 350+ children in different educational programmes, aged 2 years to college going children. Further, skill development initiatives for women such as free training in stitching and paper bag making has helped in overall economic upliftment of the low income group families in the locality.

Magpet is proud to be associated with Disha Foundation since 2020 on an ongoing basis with contributions towards ‘Child Education’ and ‘Women Empowerment’ initiatives.

Rural Health Care Foundation

Rural Health Care Foundation (RHCF), an NGO, was started in 2009 to counter the critical inadequacy of healthcare for the underprivileged communities in West Bengal. Their rural centres have been opened in areas deprived of proper healthcare facilities in a 50 km radius. Each of the rural centres serve over 40 villages.

Their healthcare centres have General Medicine, Optometry, Dentistry and Homeopathy departments, and pharmacy with about 200 kinds of generic medicines. At each centre, along with medical consultation for Rs. 80 and free 1-week supply of medication, spectacles are provided at subsidised cost. Cataract and Pterygium surgeries are provided (in collaboration with Rotary Eye Hospitals) for free.

RHCF began its operation with one centre in Mayapur (Nadia district), and has since expanded across 8 districts of West Bengal as well as Kolkata. Till date, they have served over 2.3 million patients through our 17 out-patient primary healthcare centres - 12 rural and 5 urban - in West Bengal.

Magpet admires the noble initiative of RHCF and is an active donor under its CSR program.
